I teach developmental reading and writing.  I also teach teachers instructional strategies for teaching reading/language arts as well as a variety of other classes including Children's Literature, Teacher Research, Methods for Teaching Comprehension and Vocabulary, and Teaching Culturally Diverse Learners. 

 

Other work experience

Work for the West Chester Area Schools has included teaching in summer programs for students in grades 9-12, teaching at-risk primary children, writing reading and math curriculum, directing a summer library program and teaching ESL classes, for both adults and children.  For thirty-five years, I have tutored students of all ages in math, reading, algebra and English.  I am most proud of my work teaching ESL and  remedial students how to read and write with power.

 

Personal Profile

I am a member of the Westtown Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends

and I  taught First Day school for many years.  I am the parent of a wonderful son who is also a teacher. My hobbies include reading, sewing and hiking.
