March

Instruction/Climate

As the weather turned warmer, our class did many activities to turn our thoughts to spring.

We planted lettuce and other types of seeds, and tended them faithfully. We also made birdhouses

and hung them in the courtyard and outside our classroom. This went with our study of habitats and niches in science.

Instruction

Children also did a fabulous job with biomes reports and projects.

Here are the directions I had posted on-line:

Climate

Mrs. Twohig worked with Benito and his brother to to complete the assignment. Everyone listened attentively as they presented their work to the class.

Preparation/Planning

As a class, we created affirmation flowers, a CCRC activity I created myself.

Instruction

The class really enjoyed two special Fun Fridays,

Jackie Robinson Day

and Welome Back Spring Day

(packets of work can be found in the artifacts folder)

I have also included a packet of work for Plant Fun Friday-

and a story written by one of the students about our baby bunnies-

During March our class worked hard on the PSSA,

wearing team shirts we made ourselves.

We also started work on our play, Macbeth.

Sample voccabulary work is included in the artifacts folder.

Instruction

We applied strategies for decoding multi syllabic words as we read Macbeth:

We also made story frames:

and wrote obituaries for William Shakespeare,

after completing a mini research project.

The Home and School Association hosted a fund raiser on St. Patrick's Day.

A number of us knit scarves to sell!

Everyone of them was sold!

March would not have been complete without a leprechaun Fun Friday.

There is a sample packet of work in the artifacts folder.

Of course, we also celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday with a special morning of activities (albeit it a day late this year!)
